Dr. Burt Borthwick

Dr.Burt Borthwick

Dr. Borthwick has had a wide range of experience in public education.  He has taught at the elementary, secondary, college and university levels.  He coordinated the implementation of Bill 82, a bill that required Ontario School boards to provide special education programs and services for students identified with special needs.  He coordinated the development of special education support documents for the Ministry of Education.  He has been principal investigator for a number of research projects.  He opened the first Provincial residential school for students with learning disabilities.  He has served as a Regional Superintendent for the Ministry of Education, completed his PhD dissertation regarding “Evolution of Section 68 Schools”, and is a strong supporter for parent/school partnerships.
