Sleeping Children Around the World
For a second year, Bloorview School Authority has spent the month of February fundraising for Sleeping Children Around the World. Sleeping Children is a Canadian fundraising project that is operated fully by volunteers. They provide bedkits to children living in underdeveloped and developing countries.
A bedkit consists of a mat or mattress, pillow, sheet, blanket, mosquito net, clothing, and school supplies. Last year (2013) we were able to raise enough money to buy 14 bedkits for children in the Philippines. We set a goal of 18 bedkits for our 2014 campaign which will be sent to Togo. A bedkit was set up in the school lobby so students were able to see and feel the contents of an actual bedkit. Students brought in donations and helped fundraise in the lobby of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.
