Resource Programs: Community Resource Teacher Service

Community Resource Teachers provide service for students with acquired brain injuries and diverse physical, medical and cognitive needs at the elementary and secondary school level.

Community Resource Teachers assist educators in community schools in the development of an academic program that is meaningful and realistic for our diverse population.  They provide assistance to school staff in need of educational programming support for students who are clients of Bloorview Kids Rehab, from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12.

Community Resource Teachers provide consultative support to classroom teachers and school board personnel, working collaboratively with parents, Special Education Consultants and community organizations as necessary, to establish appropriate educational programming and plan for students with special needs.  Community Resource Teachers provide service for students within the Greater Toronto Area.

Community Resource Teachers provide:

  • Support and training for acquired brain injuries and physical disabilities
  • Consultation on developing the Individual Education Plan, establishing accommodations, modifications and appropriate learning activities to meet the needs of children with diverse learning profiles
  • Liaise with Bloorview Kids Rehab and school board staff
